The design trick with round tables is determining how much walking space there is around the table. Guests should feel comfortable in walking past seated guests, without feeling like a movie theater and saying “excuse me” for seated guests to have to stand! Assume at least 1-2 feet around your coffee table, more or less depending on the seating arrangement.
A polished, mirrored finish need not be the only unique feature of your coffee table, and you can take the style quotient of the living room to a whole new level with an addition that also ushers in geometric contrast. Coffee tables in geometric shapes that go beyond the simple rectangle and square always draw plenty of attention, and these multifaced delights also reflect the ambient light in an even more spectacular fashion. If the mirrored coffee table is not your thing, you can also consider silvery, modern alternatives that bring in the same sheen without actually using a mirrored finish.
The Architect Nesting Coffee Tables from West Elm are crafted from ash veneer with an Earl Gray finish, as well as wrought iron legs. Need more surface area? Nix the nesting for twice the space. When you’re done, the smaller table stashes neatly under the large one.
